Some of the sites we like - including some we have helped people with and sometimes host.
So ... if you need any help with web design, don't know your ISP from your URL, are lost in the hosting jungle, need some pieces photographed or just fancy a chat about what can and can't be done - then please get in touch.

Similarly, if you'd prefer not to have a link from this page (or from your individual turner page) then please let us know and we'll delete it.

Woodturners

Nick Agar
Nick's gallery is a good stopping off point for us on the way to Cornwall (Dartington). He has some wacky ideas and is always good for a chat.
Nick Arnull
We think it's the carving detail that makes Nick's pieces so special .... or could it be the colours he uses? Either way, it works for us.
Andy Binfield
You'll find Andy's work at numerous shows - his fruit is wonderful
Matthew Calder
Matt's nurture forms are quite amazing as are his wall pieces. Lovely use of blue.
Robert Chapman
Not only a woodturner but has also written a number of books
Ian Clarkson
Great thin walled vessels, lovely work, nice man, does excellent chicken dinners. Nuff said.
Jimmy Clewes
If you can get him to stand still long enough Jimmy turns a nice piece. Also produces some nice furniture. Check out his DVDs.
Cindy Drozda
We met Cindy at Ripon where she was demonstrating. The three sided box in our collection is lovely.
Richard Forgan
A winner at Axminster, Richard is pondering the possibility of going "fuller" time. Someone to watch - and a site we have helped to develop for him.
Dennis and Patricia Gleadell
Sometimes they turn alone and sometimes they collaborate - either way the output is definitely worth a second look. It's sometimes difficult to prise a piece away from them if you want to buy it but don't give up!
Colin Gosden
Low toggle factor (an in joke) and with a unique approach to life (that's the polite version) Colin's work stands out - and there's some usually to be seen in the next recommendation.
Phil Greenwood
Phil turns in Yorkshire and was the proud turner of wood from the Balloon Tree, a famous tree from the East Riding.

Dennis Hales
If you like colour in your life, check out Dennis's work - lots of sparkle and plenty of excellent fruit too.

Mark Hancock
There's more to Mark than the trefoil shapes for which he is known. Get him to show you some of his bowls - or look at the ones we have managed to pry away from him!
Mike and Gill Hayduk
Mike and Gill make decorative puzzles - from small to large with a few new ones every year.
Julie Heryet
We've been buying Julie's work for a few years now and never fail to be impressed.

Phil Irons
Phil's a big Aussie bloke with a great sense of humour. Also useful to know if you want to buy a lathe!

Scott Irvine
If you like your pieces to be bold then Scott's work may well appeal.
Working with some lovely burrs in particular - we'd love some more pieces - but where to put them!

Paul Khosla
A west country turner whose work we found in Mid Cornwall Galleries. We think he lets the wood do the talking which we like. He now works with Nick Agar in Dartington.

Art Liestman
A very friendly Canadian chap with a strong knowledge of the Sherlock Holmes alphabet (see his Dancing Men series) and a liking for jigsaw puzzles.

Alain Mailland
His site is fantastic and his pieces are out of this world - take a look, we're sure you won't regret it!
Gregory Moreton
A chilean pine (monkey puzzle!) expert and a lovely man too - you can generally find him on the RPT stand at shows.
Stuart Mortimer
As one who has successfully broken into the American market - a quick look at Stuart's site (and the pieces on our site) tells you why. Never satisfied and always pushing the boundaries, Stuarts pieces have quite rightly found their way into most of the major worldwide collections.
Oh - and a great guy to boot! (Can we have that discount now please Stuart?).
Binh Pho
Not sure what we could say about Binh's work that could do it justice. It's simply wonderful. The detail and colours he uses are amazing.
Laura Ponting
Laura's work varies from very small to very large, from scorched to dyed and includes "rigid" and wet turned work.
Dave Regester
You will no doubt have read Dave's articles about "being a woodturner" in Woodturning magazine

Marcel Van Berkel
We first met Marcel at Tools 2003 where he entered a good number of pieces in the competition and walked away with the first prize - now in our collection along with a couple of other pieces from him.

Don White
In the middle of nowhere but well worth the journey to see his work. Just make sure you know what your budget is - there are too many wonderful pieces to choose from!

Galleries

Burford Woodcraft
Another excellent gallery and worth a visit if you are ever in middle England. BW stocks a refreshingly diverse range of "all things wooden".
Pop in, say hi to Jayne or Robert, (the owners), buy something then go over to The Copper Kettle for some of the nicest refreshment around; take a load off - all without breaking the bank.
Delmano Gallery
An indication of the difference in attitudes between the US and the UK. Also some pointers as to the difference in prices - and you wonder why the UK turners are so keen to break into the US market. Conversely perhaps this explains why the US collectors are starting to buy UK turners - in this country!
Once described as the "next ceramics" - the moral - get 'em while they're still affordable.
From The Wood
David and Abby Woodward's gallery in Hay. Just go there! Thanks for all your help David.
Kestrel Creek Gallery
Showcasing some tremendous Australian turners this is a site to watch.
This one is particularly dynamic and engaging - worthy of regular revisiting or get on their mailing list.

Associations

The Association of Woodturners of GB
The National body - and a useful reference point as to what is going on. We very much enjoyed visiting the instant gallery at the 2003 Loughborough seminar - and have posted our "snaps" of most of the pieces on this site under SEMINAR on the navigation menu.

Other useful websites

Laymar Crafts
An excellent reference for all things wood on the web. Whether a turner, collector or just with a passing interest - this is a good central point from which to disappear to all corners of the web.

All sorts of info can be found on this site together with really useful links to turners, suppliers etc. etc.
